Organizational Context The Directorate General of Electricity and Energy Utilization (DGEEU) is in the process of running a Full Scale UNDP/GEF-funded project entitled Integrated Micro-hydro Development and Application Program (IMIDAP). The project aims to expand Indonesia?s energy options through the promotion of microhydro technology. It will further contribute to poverty eradication by ensuring higher productivity for rural communities through more reliable and ready energy sources. Microhydro-supported Productive Activities Development and Gender is one of the IMIDAP?s activities. This activity will involve the design and implementation of a support program for the development of income generating activities that are closely linked with higher value-added processing of agricultural and forestry export products and commodities in areas where there are feasible microhydro resources and also linked with gender. This is in line with enhancing the viability of microhydro systems through the development of productive uses microhydro energy and creation of markets for small-to-medium scale enterprises that deal with processing of agricultural products, as well as attracting new agro-forestry products with enhanced competitive advantage such as timber, handicrafts, pre-processed cottage industry raw materials, cardamom, dairy items and other cash crops. With the available energy input from nearby microhydro resources and supporting activities for improving dairy product market development, production can be enhanced to allow for the production of more dairy goods. The local governments that have jurisdictions in such areas can facilitate a more developed dairy industry linked to provincial and national markets, with the IMIDAP providing technical assistance to ensure that the adequate microhydro energy inputs are in place. For this project?s activity, qualified experts (national) on microhydro productive uses experts are required. |

| II. Functions / Key Results Expected Summary of key functions: - Under the guidance and supervision of the Program Manager, the consultant supports the implementation IMIDAP?s activity related to productive uses of microhydro.
- Under the guidance of the IMIDAP?s Team Leader, the consultant conducts an activity to do assement, feasibility studies and program development on productive uses of microhydro.
- The Assistance work also in close collaboration with the management support and business development, program, operation and project staffs in the IMIDAP program, as required.
- Conduct of detailed studies aimed at assessing the various productive use applications of microhydro in rural areas where the resource is available.
- Assessment of existing local, regional and international markets for ?value-added? products on how these can be enhanced with the energy inputs from microhydro facilities in rural areas.
- Provide recommendations on how links can be established among microhydro energy production, commercial activities and income generation in potential sites for implementation of microhydro energy systems.
- Develop market plans for commercialization of ?value-added? products and facilitation of business arrangements between community / rural enterprise producers and institutions at the market level.
- Conduct an assessment of the feasibility of income generating activities and industries (e.g. handicraft, cottage industry, agricultural products processing) that can be developed in rural areas, and supported by the available microhydro resources for both electricity and non-electricity uses.
- Inventory of experiences and possibilities for wider promotion and adoption of microhydro productive use practices.
- Design a support program for the development of income generating activities that are closely linked with higher value-added processing of agriculture and forestry export products and commodities in areas where there are feasible microhydro resources.
- Develop and intensify productive use practices with the involvement of gender issues.
III. Impact of Results - The key results have an impact on the overall efficiency of the IMIDAP Program operations including improved income generating from microhyhdro uses in Indonesia. Forward-looking of a microhydro productive uses expert has an impact on the organization of office management, knowledge sharing and information provision.

| V. Recruitment Qualifications Education: - A master?s degree in engineering or sciences, community development, social sciences. Ph D?s degree is preferred
Experience: - More than five years of related experience in the microhydro industry with a broad experience in a range of productive uses of renewable energy system technologies and grid/ off-grid applications;
- Experience in conducting a social survey and community development.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills;
- Updated knowledge on, various international projects on micro-hydro development and applications, with experience in Indonesia being an asset.
- Analysis on energy based income generation in rural areas.
Language Requirements: - Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
