Oxfam Great Britain

Location: Indonesia - Jakarta
Oxfam GB works in more than 80 countries to provide people with the support they need to overcome poverty and suffering. Here, in Indonesia, we run a busy programme of development, humanitarian, and advocacy initiatives. We have clear objectives for change and, by strengthening our country team, we believe we can turn our vision into reality. So why not do your bit too? Think about the difference you could make ? the effects of your solutions will be felt for a lifetime.
About the role
In this key role, you?ll be responsible for producing detailed base, hazard and risk maps to help support our vision of a more equal, sustainable and resilient Indonesia. Your remit will be broad. As well as identifying information needs and providing technical support ? including updating websites and blogs ? you?ll pinpoint requirements for geographical analysis and any other areas that could help our humanitarian team carry out their work more effectively. Your work will see you networking with a whole range of audiences ? including government bodies, local authorities and military groups ? to make sure everyone has full access to accurate, up-to-date information. We?ll also look to you to develop relevant training manuals, represent Oxfam at inter-agency forums and maintain a comprehensive database management system.
What we?re looking for
We?re looking for a GIS or related degree, together with significant experience within the sector. Skilled in using mapping survey tools such as GPS, you?re fully committed to keeping abreast of technology advances and ideally have previous experience with Oxfam GB or INGO in a similar role. Your excellent communication skills ? and fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia ? mean you can engage with people at all levels and work well as part of a multicultural team. You should also be willing to travel to project areas across Indonesia. If you have previously spent time as part of an emergency relief programme then so much the better.
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There?s enough wealth in this world to go around. It?s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It?s unjustifiable. It?s not their problem. It?s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. More than 8,000 people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we?re looking for yours.
